上师大附二外剑桥双语部家委会和家长工作坊于2018年10月12日成立啦!勤劳的老师们为了切实做好家校工作,拉近与家长的距离,推进孩子的成长,家长工作坊期分享会也同时开幕啦!
On the 12th of October, 2018, the Parent Committee at SFLS was formally established. This association serves to improve communication between the school and the family and to promote the growth of students. In order to narrow the gap between home and school, the first Family Workshop was also opened.

初中部副主任梁琴老师主持了初中家长工作坊的开幕,剑桥部刘望校长亲自与家长面对面分享青春期11-15岁阶段的学生需求。
Ms. Liang Qin, Deputy Principal of the Cambridge International School(CIS) Middle School, opened the middle School parent workshop. Then the Headmaster of the CIS, Mr. Liu, shared with the parents some practical, thought-provoking and scientific details of the needs of students, 11-15 years of age.
刘校长的分享既有科学性,实践性又有长远性和思辨性。刘校长从学生的大脑发育,国际教育情怀讲到布鲁姆思维层次理论,他希望家长配合学校去培养学生的思辨性。
He drew on what we know of the development of the brain, international education ideas and Bloom’s Taxonomy theory of Educational learning objectives. He encouraged the parents to fully cooperate with the school in order to cultivate learners with critical thinking and reasoning skills.
面对变化莫测的未来,他希望家校联合让学生养成自主学习和终身学习的好习惯。此外,刘校长借助心理漫画启发引导家长以正确的方式尊重学生,培养学生真正翱翔的翅膀。刘校长的演讲引起家长的共鸣,家长纷纷提问。
We are facing an unknown future, and it is important that the school and parents work hand in hand to help students develop the habits of independent and lifelong learning. In addition, Principal Liu made use of diagrams and cartoon depictions to explain how parents and children can work together in order to build a greater respect between them, and also how to empower their children to be more independent and give them wings to soar to success. Mr. Liu’s speech really made an impact on the parents and caused them to ask more questions.
另一边,小学部执行主任 Priscila Perdomo (以下简称 Priscila)老师引入了“音素(Phonemes)和字素(Graphemes)”概念。Priscila老师认为许多家长在教孩子英语单词时,习惯让孩子读“F-I-S-H,fish”,”F-I-S-H”就是字素,但是她希望家长读音素“f-ɪ-ʃ ,fish”。读音素会增加孩子对单词发音的关联性。
At the same event, the Head of the Primary school, Ms. Priscila Perdomo (herein afterwards referred to as Priscila), spoke to the parents and introduced them to the concept of Phonemes and Graphemes. She expressed that many parents, in trying to help their children to say words in English, may be in the habit of getting the child to sound out each individual letter of the word. Instead of saying: “f-i-s-h=FISH, she wants them to wants them to say: “f-i-sh= FISH”. Reading phonemes and paying attention to different combinations of consonants and vowels, increases a child’s association with word sounds.
Priscila老师以会读单词发音和懂得单词意思的能力,从低到高制作了阅读能力的四象限图,帮助家长了解自己孩子的阅读水平。她还建议家长尝试用机器人的发音方法读出单词的音素,增加孩子学习的趣味性。
Priscila created a map consisting of four quadtrants of reading ability, from low to high, in order for parents to better understand their child’s reading level. She also suggested that parents make use of a “reading robot”, and play games such as : “I Spy….a word beginning with…”which can make learning and reading much more interesting for the child.
小学部副主任施亭老师以“爱和自由”为主题引导家长维护好和孩子“友谊的小船”。她提出4个锦囊妙计:1.听懂孩子的话;2.高质量的陪伴孩子;3.了解孩子背后的情绪按钮;4.尊重孩子。最后她以2003 年美国年度教师贝特西·罗杰斯的话做了总结: “孩子就像玫瑰花蕾,有不同的花期。最后开的花与最早开的花一样美丽。”
Deputy Director Ms Shi Ting made use of the theme of a “Friendship Boat” in order to guide parents to maintain a good and open relationship with their children. She suggested four tips: 1. Understand what the child is saying; 2. Create high quality time together with your child; 3. Understand your child’s emotional triggers or “buttons” and 4. Respect your child. Finally, she concluded with the words of Betsy Rogers, the American “Teacher of the Year” in 2003: “Children are like rosebuds, which bloom at different times. The last flower is as beautiful as the first.”

The comments made by parents on the anonymous questionnaires made it clear that this was a very fruitful session- the comprehensive and insightful PPT, the inspirational words, the delicate snacks provided, and even a surprise Tai Chi class, were all highly appreciated by the parents. We eagerly look forward to the next Parent and Family Workshop!
